Why BodyWorks

A clinical practice that happens to do aesthetics.

Physician-directed, nurse-led, measured by scan. Everything on this page is a claim you can check, and nothing on it is an adjective.

The founding story

The practice they couldn't find.

Thomas Brown is a Navy veteran. He trained as a cardiac sonographer — registered in adult cardiac, pediatric cardiac and vascular ultrasound — and later ran medical-technology businesses as a senior vice president, launching devices into clinical use.

Stacy Brown built her career in healthcare and medical technology: she founded and ran a medical agency supporting operating-room procedures, and served as a clinical educator in surgical safety.

Thomas lost 83 pounds in seven months under medically managed weight loss. What he could not find afterwards was a practice that combined the equipment he had spent twenty years around with a clinician who would measure the result rather than describe it. So the two of them built one, in Suite 201 on North Point Parkway.

What makes us different

Five claims, each with a sentence behind it.

The word "clinical" is used loosely in this industry. These are the five things that make it literal here.

Physician medical director on site

Dr. Andrew Pugliese, MD, is the medical director. Every clinical protocol and every prescription therapy runs under his oversight, and his name is on the page that says so.

RN clinical director

Karen Heimbrecht, RN runs clinical standards, training and treatment delivery — the standards are a nurse's job here, not a manager's.

Written, versioned clinical protocols

Every treatment follows a written protocol with a version number. When it changes, the version changes with it, so what you were treated under can always be found.

Every plan measured by 3D scan

A full-body scan at the consult sets a baseline. We re-scan at 30, 60 and 90 days and compare against it, rather than estimating by eye or by the number on a scale.

Devices selected on clinical evidence

We buy on published evidence rather than on what a rep is selling this quarter. QuantumRF, Morpheus8, EvolveX and 3D scanning — each does something the others cannot.

How a protocol is built

Scan first. Then decide.

Showing the process is what justifies the price. It is the same four steps for everyone, in the same order.

Scan

A full 3D body scan at the consult — circumference and composition, mapped. This is the baseline everything afterwards is measured against.

Labs, where indicated

If a protocol needs bloodwork before it begins, it is ordered and read first. Not every plan does; the ones that do are not started without it.

A written, phased plan

What we would do first, what can wait, and what we would tell you not to bother with — with real prices, in writing, and yours whether or not you go ahead.

Re-measure

We re-scan at 30, 60 and 90 days and compare against the baseline. If something isn't working we change it rather than sell you more of it.

The standard we hold ourselves to.

We practise under the Georgia Composite Medical Board's rules for physician-directed care, and our medical director is accountable for every clinical protocol the practice runs.

Any prescription therapy is sourced from a licensed 503A or 503B pharmacy and is overseen by a physician — from the decision to prescribe through to the follow-up.

The full version — the oversight model, protocol documentation, device safety, pharmacy sourcing and the adverse-event policy — is on the medical standards page. It is deliberately dry.
